Dunn's River Falls, Ocho Rios Jamaica

Written by Eray Celebi on Monday, 13 February 2012 21:04. Posted in Travel notes

Dunn's river falls is a beautiful nature park, with spectacular spring fed waterfall that rolls down over 180 meters to the beach and described by geologists as "a living phenomenon" because they are continuously rebuilt from deposits of calcium carbonate and sodium from the river water. Also one of the very few waterfalls in the world that actually empties directly into the sea.

It was the site of a location shoot for the 1988 Tom Cruise film Cocktail. The falls were also used for location footage in the first James Bond film Dr. No in 1962, where Bond (played by Sean Connery) and Honey Ryder (Ursula Andress) are in the river. It's a beautiful place that you shouldn't miss if you are in Ocho Rios in Jamaica. However, it is very very very touristy place.
